Dominique Pagani approaches imperialism as a philosopher, through the Socratic question "what do you call…?". He treats colonialism as a species of the genus imperialism and holds that the United States is the only case of fully accomplished colonization. In the Sahel, he names the IMF, the World Bank and the European Union as the dominant element1. From 2024 on, he consistently replaces the word "West", which he considers a concealing concept, with "Atlanticist imperialism".
