How should one respond to those who accuse Dominique Pagani of anti-Americanism and complacency toward Putin, and what does the media unanimism on the war in Ukraine reveal?

Dominique Pagani starts from letters from friends who reproach him for his "Americanophobia" and "Putinophilia." He answers on the basis of Aristotle's phrase "mathematics unites men, politics divides them": he distinguishes anti-Americanism, a right-wing tradition, from the anti-Atlanticism he claims for himself, then describes the war NATO is waging on Russia behind the Russo-Ukrainian conflict. He then draws on two sources that cannot be suspected of Russophilia, the interview with Andreï Makine and that of former CIA officer Larry Johnson, to denounce Russophobia, induced amnesia and the "mush of sentiment," and to show that this unanimism is a sign of the weakening of the West. A 2014 France 2 report on far-right militiamen in Kyiv shows what could still be said then. He finally responds to comments: Slavophile currents, public humiliations in Ukraine, the Winter War (pacifism must be dialecticized), and the persistence of the right-left divide. He concludes on the nuclear danger: "we are not out of the woods."
