Does Clouscard put desire itself on trial, or the ideology of desire?

Dominique Pagani starts from the program that the channel Le Précepteur devoted to Clouscard. He warns against a misreading: Clouscard does not fight desire, he fights the ideology of desire, that is, a discourse that reduces the infinity of desire to the trinkets that capital puts in the shop window. He shows that this misreading runs in the direction of a puritanism stemming from the dominant culture of Protestant origin, summed up by the formula "everything is permitted, but nothing is possible." He then reads a member's text on the student Mai 68, which he presents as a permissive counter-revolution. Sexual freedom was not invented in 68: it has always depended on a certain wealth, extended by workers' struggles. He ends with the fund to translate Clouscard into English in order to reach a critical mass.
