Why, in the media uproar, is the history linking Atlanticist capitalism to Nazism and to the present danger of war passed over in silence?

Dominique Pagani starts from what is called the decline of the West. In his view, the “West” is an occulting concept, which must be replaced by “Atlanticist imperialism.” He describes the crisis of this whole and takes up a phrase of Freud's, “the death drives progress in silence,” to characterize a danger of war that the media do not discuss. He shows that this silence does not preclude noise: the media uproar covers up what must be kept quiet, and structuralism has itself disqualified history. He then restores occulted historical sequences: American nativists and Know Nothings, the recruitment of former Nazis by American services as early as 1946, collaboration in Ukraine and the Baltic states, the racism of Lothrop Stoddard. He concludes, with Hegel and Freud, that the historical sequence must be restored against the legend, and he opens a cycle on the alternation of revolutions and counter-revolutions since 1789.
