What relation unites Arendt's conception of Nazism and totalitarianism with Heidegger's conception of thought, and how has this relation served to exonerate Heidegger and Schmitt?

The session is a lecture by Emmanuel Faye, invited on the occasion of the reissue of his book "Arendt and Heidegger," followed by a debate in which Dominique Pagani takes part. The guest begins from the reception of Heidegger and the role of Hannah Arendt, who was his advocate and propagator, and notes that the literature on her is mostly hagiographic. He connects Arendt to the German conservative revolution: politics reserved for a community of election, work that no longer humanizes, isonomy against democracy, the separation of the political and the social inherited from Schmitt. He then shows, from the Black Notebooks, that Heidegger's "end of philosophy" is a metapolitical project, and that Arendt builds an apparatus that exonerates both the thoughtless executor (Eichmann) and the thinker (Heidegger). The debate turns on the notion of totalitarianism, judged to be without concept and tied to Cold War ideology, on the reception of Arendt in Germany and the United States, and on her intellectual agenda.
