What do two paragraphs of Nietzsche's Beyond Good and Evil reveal about the music to come and the German soul?

Dominique Pagani starts from the audience's surprise: why does he call Nietzsche a "great fool," when the hyper-Nietzschean counter-revolution makes him a demystifier? He maintains the judgment, on biographical grounds, while acknowledging admirable things in Nietzsche as soon as he speaks of music. He then situates the music of the late nineteenth century, which had exhausted its veins and was heading toward ruptures. The reading of paragraph 255 shows a Nietzsche who senses a "more than European" music, "sister to the palm tree," in which he hears The Rite of Spring and jazz. He finally reads paragraph 244 on German depth, which he judges prophetic and topical: this depth is only a painful digestion and a dangerous disguise.
