Why and how could Jacques D'Hondt call himself a Hegelian without adopting the manifest content of Hegelianism?

The session is a tribute to Jacques D'Hondt. The floor is given largely to a speaker, D'Hondt's colleague and friend. He begins from what makes D'Hondt a Hegelian apart, both in content and in form: neither a logico-theological Hegel nor dogmatic dissertation, but history, free writing, and respect for rhetoric. He then retraces D'Hondt's path from Marxist to Marxian, then to full Hegelian, until Hegel becomes "all that remains of the true." He finally answers the question raised: D'Hondt found in Hegel the philosopher of living history, for whom the true is never dogma. His theory of double language and the agreement he sees between Voltairian common sense and speculative reason explain how he could call himself a Hegelian. Dominique Pagani, a former student of D'Hondt, then takes up the relation between Hegel and Marx: he contrasts Althusser, who decouples Marx from Hegel, with Lenin's reading of the Science of Logic, and links the return of Hegel to the current crisis.

À l'heure du retour de la dialectique, du désenchantement des post-modernes et de leur épilogue calamiteux, l'occasion d'un échange sur une conception de la philosophie et de l'histoire comme outils gnoséologiques producteurs de sens, de transmission et de partage
