How can philosophy, after having answered with the sciences the question "what can I know?", move on to the knowledge of man and his historical present?

For this final session of the season, Dominique Pagani first summarizes the course taken: philosophy is a search that wants to answer the question "what must I do?" in the mode of a knowledge, against the dogmatist and the skeptic. He recalls the three moments of the philosophy of knowledge, empiricism, rationalism and determinism, then defends the universal against cultural relativism. "Know thyself" then leads from the knowledge of things to man, whose relation to the world is mediated by language and crystallized in his works. He then reads Marx's 1859 preface and draws out the concepts of productive forces, relations of production, mode of production and ideology, and answers a question from the audience. He finally shows the same historical progression in Hölderlin, in a novel by Hermann Kant and in Brecht, and ends with Rimbaud's poem "Mouvement."
