How can we think the contradiction within the subject, the negativity immanent to the self, and why do we repress it?

Dominique Pagani opens a new cycle on the contradiction internal to the subject, under the sign of Rimbaud's "Je est un autre" and Goya's painting where time devours its children. He comments on paragraph 6 of Hegel's Elements of the Philosophy of Right: he explains immanence, the identity of the self, speculation (the mirror), and determination, and situates Fichte within German idealism. With paragraph 7, he shows that negativity that relates to itself, the negation of the negation, is the source of all positivity, then reads paragraph 5: the pure indetermination of the self, illustrated by Cartesian doubt, becomes in politics negative freedom and the fury of destruction. He then makes President Schreber, studied by Freud, the case where the subject represses his internal determination by attributing it to God, and relates narcissism to the biological incompleteness of man. He ends with a reading of a text by Bonaventura, whose commentary and that of Baudelaire's poems is postponed to the next session.
