Why is Heidegger "the most Nazi of the great philosophers," and what does Dominique Pagani reproach him for above all?

Dominique Pagani answers a correspondent's question about the source of a quotation: Heidegger reportedly saw in the motorization of the German army a stage of Western metaphysics. He gives the source, Emmanuel Faye's book "Heidegger, l'introduction du nazisme dans la philosophie," and reads the passage on the 1940 lecture course where the motorization of the Wehrmacht is a "metaphysical act." With Victor Klemperer, he shows that "metaphysics" becomes a coded word of the language of the Third Reich, and against Heidegger's critique of technology he argues that one must indict the subjects, not the tool. He then analyzes the ambivalence of the word "metaphysics" in Heidegger. He concludes that what he cannot forgive is less the pre-war Nazism, which he admits he might have shared, than the post-war period: the absence of guilt and Heidegger's role as the favorite philosopher of NATO, of popes, and of the French school.
