In what way is the Socratic initiative the origin of a revolution whose effects are not yet exhausted?

Dominique Pagani starts from the theatrical performance of a Platonic dialogue that precedes the session: dialogue form is not a betrayal of philosophy, it is its very heart, for truth is born from the clash of discourses. He then distinguishes thought in general from philosophy: Socrates brings philosophy down from the sky to the earth, moves from the true and the false to the good and the evil, and replaces the question "what is?" with "what do you call?". This question addressed to someone who can answer founds dialogue, non-contradiction, and democracy; Euclid's "postulates" and the Gorgias illustrate this. He then reads Merleau-Ponty's In Praise of Philosophy (the triangle of myself, others, the true) and comments on the passage where Hegel makes Plato the pivot of world revolution. He arrives at the figure of the philosopher, who dismisses both the dogmatist and the skeptic back to back: the example of beauty leads from pleasure to desire and to "know thyself".
